Vocabulary Sci-Fi

Hello, guys! I am Hanna, I live in the twenty-first century, in 2014. I guess all you want to hear from me what is going on nowadays. Though there are a lot of interesting things (politics, books. films), I mainly want to tell the difference between studying.
Firstly, it is easy to connect with your professor without using a phone, ink, papers etc. If your electicity isn't cut off, you can connect with everyone at home. Even if you yawn and are not well-dressed, you still have an ability to have a small talk with people. So now we usually search information using internet and our mother tongue. Maybe you're a little out of touch with internet, but I'll show you.
For example, we're able to write a letter, watch anything on the screen and send to other people as well as create a wordmap with your fingers. If you want to learn more about some word and to look through relations according to their specificities, you can type any word and look at the pictures. It looks like this:
See, this is very easy! Hope you're not shouting at me right there, because you're shocked of such interesting thing. Well. maybe not. I didn't mean to offend you - it was just a figure of speech.
Anyway, there's another one thing, which is useful for a native speaker as well as for a foreigner. Using of another site gives a cool ability to communicate with your friends or to know a lot about different expressions. You're able to make a nice word cloud, which will make you lose contact with the whole world. Here it is:
And there is also a wonderful fraze.it! Make a note about this tool, because it helps to catch up with many collocations, know their source and even translate it to your first language! Of course, it won't sound according to avery regional accent, but will allow you to read all the sources, where this collocation was used. For example, I've written "good luck", limited my search to the topic "Education" in order not to shout at my computer if there are too many words. Then, I've chosen one paragraph and decided to highlight the best collocations and to use them when I'll come into contact with other people. Here is the paragraph:
California's boosters are too smug about the state's long-term prospects.
We sometimes sound like jilted lovers: You'll come crawling back eventually! You'll see!
Sure, they say you can buy three times the house in Dallas or Houston for one-third of what you'll pay in the Bay Area or Orange County. But the weather is terrible, yahoos run the schools and good luck trying to find decent sushi or dim sum.
As Jerry Brown put it recently, "Who would want to spend summers there in 110-degree heat inside some kind of fossil fuel air conditioner? Not a smart way to go."
Texas in August isn't so different from Fresno, Riverside, and – ahem – Sacramento.
Except our taxes and utility bills are higher.
Finally, if you are shy to spaek your mind and say that there may be some words you don't understand, you can use another tool. You are able to write every collocation, from "Wink at sb" to "shake hands with sb" and to explain it. If there's no such a word in the dictionary, there's no need to shout at your computer: you can insert your own definition. Here is a link of how does it look like: http://quizlet.com/49911747/the-theatre-for-the-deaf-flash-cards/alphabetical
It is really nice, isn't it?
Well, in order not to be a chatterbox I'll finish. Hope you'll grow up (or born at least), read this, find me and whisper to me: "Hey, it's me. Thanks for a favour". Now it is time to finish. Bye!

Not even a fairy-tale

Once upon a time, long ago, there was a big wonderful country – Bookland, where all the books reflected in the mirror like people. In that country every book lived in prosperity and tried to accept different circumstances. There were special customs, sometimes pointless and funny. In the district of love stories the most beautiful were those who always nodded their head in order to agree with friends. It was impossible to mistake them for anybody else. On the other hand, in the district of historical books there were very strict people, who always finalized all their plans. Even their housing was fully furnished and old-fashioned.
In the Dictionary District, right at the Verb Street, there lived a very reputable gentleman Longman S.B. He had a company, which was based on counting pages in every book. Everybody thought that he didn't have friends, because as a book he was worthless. He was known as a man, who assured everybody that they were stupid. He was impatient and a little bossy, that’s why speaking with him was a really severe situation. Even Scrappy, his small dog-notebook, ran away from him, because it didn't want to occupy his territory. He was inexplicably sad and rather lonely.
Only one eventful day changed his life. Mr. Longman was walking in a very narrow street, while a recognition of somebody alive made him to stay at one place. Though he was an adult and was in a good shape, there was a noticeable fear on his face. When he heard a strange whisper, he felt himself almost ready to cry out loud, as if it could finalize this boring story. But then a small man come out and he was very apologetic.
"I didn't mean to bother you", he said.
It was Mr. Elementarie, one of the oldest Dictionaries in the World, who exceled at the most ancient definitions. He was sitting on the earth and Longman felt sorry of him. He wasn't heartless at all - pages of this person probably were dark and old. This man was absorbing into darkness. And it was the origin of his new life.
“Pardon me…” he started, but with an emotive voice Elementarie told him:
“There’s nothing to be afraid of. Darkness isn’t bad, is it?” Longman thought that man was crazy, but suddenly thousands of sparkles appeared from his fingers, shining and simplifying everything. Wondered, looked at Elementarie:
“I know that I have done many unforgivable things, but will you go with me?”.
The old man’s face looked absolutely amazed, but then he smiled in an undescribable way. What a worthwhile night!

No one ever said that it would be this hard (c) Coldplay

The name of a new subject seemed to be boring. Just imagine: Vocabulary classes! Moreover, when the studying year broke out, everyone felt a bit out of Academy and learning at all. The main aim is to put out your laziness. Bad thoughts die down Very quickly. You have to understand that vocabulary is not only a gruelling reading of a dictionary with thousands of collocations. Language is represantation of yourself and also the ability to show a great honour to other people.
I consider that statement "Vocabulary is more important than grammar" started an utter chaos inside my head. Though I knew that, this faced a considerable difficulty to understand one important thing.  All the stuff I had tried to catch during my first year was only a basement for much deeper knowledge. I suddenly faced the prospect of not being able to express myself.
I found a small activity of creating something about me entirely useful. Anyway, when we were talking about ourselves I thought almost everyone had reached an agreement to tell only about future intensions. It was as if I had missed something. However, a lot of dreams and plans of my groupmates are familiar to me. I guess everyone wants to go abroad, be successful, know a lot of languages etc.
I like the idea of having a free ability to choose the best way to write information in my notebook (even doodles!). I guess this kind of activities needs a real effort, because we do our best. I think I'll draw and write in a notebook without any lining - a classic example of a perfect sketchbook. In this case all my troubles with vocabulary will die down. For me drawing is the best way to study, but there are very few professors, who allow me to draw. Usually I must take the blame for "breaking the law".
I want to make it clear that my inner face on the first class looked like this:
Yes, Bilbo, exactly.
But then it was like:
And that's all I wanted to say. Good luck!
